July 11, 2022Income Tax filing,
M Form 2021
free chat ½ hour.
Its been very hectic the last three months and after the storm has passed on the 1st of May we have today, blue Monday, a blue sky .
The Dutch Income Tax deadline was on the 30th April .
Let me reflect in this calmness the urge to file your M Form when you passed the Netherlands border control in 2021.
You do not have to file it with the same dead line as above, The Income Tax.
The Belastingdienst want to get to know you, fiscally, and they do give you some time, before 1 September this year.
For most of the M Form filings I have done, the question arises;
why do I get so much back?
In the same breath I had to explain to my South African tax friends for whom I filed the Income Tax lately and asking me the question;
Why do I not get as much back as last year when you filed my MN Form.
Here is the explanation:
If you moved to the Netherlands and paid taxes in your country of origin, you are required to file a migration tax return form (also called the M-form).
The Dutch tax office (De Belastingdienst) needs information about you and with the M-form you can provide that to them.
Most expats will receive a tax refund because they didn’t live in the Netherlands for the whole year and therefore paid too much income tax.
I hope this works.
My telephonic chat ½ hour is back on the rail again as from today for :
